About Xenos and Proud

This is a small blog about my Warhammer 40,000 hobby. I will try to concentrate on the tactics behind the general game and my Xenos armies but there will be the odd post about random stuff.

About Me

Xenos and Proud is an 18 year old from Scotland who has been playing 40K for the last 4 years. He loves the 'under-dog' xenos armies, namely his Tyranid Gorgon splinter fleet, his Saim-Hann windrider host, his Tau Vleastean Hunter-cadre and the newest addition, the Shadowfax Corsairs. Although his tactics are mostly 'borrowed', his painting skills still 'developing' and his luck becoming evermore 'ridiculous' he continues to play, paint and roll in the hope that one day things will get better.

Jolly Toys Beginning

Hi all,

I am currently sitting in Bugmans Bar after my first game against a Draigo-wing Paladin list which I just barely lost to. I would have won 20 - 5 (max points) if his damn Paladins had not made so many invuln saves, even one more failed would have turned it. As it is I lost and I enjoyed it thoroughly and seeing as it is my first proper tournament game against Paladins for the first time and in killpoints and commanded by a man who competed in the Masters I am happy.

Quick run down was that he deployed centrally with Paladins and Draigo in Dawn of War deployment while I walked everything on first turn. Nothing much until turn 4 when I charged his huge Paladin unit (10 man) with a Libby and Draigo in with about 40 gaunts and 2 Tervigons with Paroxysm support. It was a close fight but I won by 3 but he passed his leadership with none to spare. This was my plan overall ruined, I won if he failed but lost if he passed. The game was decided there and although I can name what went badly and what would have turned it for me we both had our share of bad luck and he did a damn fine job of leaving my Hive Tyrant out of combat.

Overall, an amazing start.

  1. Love your hive fleet, XaP! Glad to see they're doing as well on the board as they are in appearance. :)

  3. Cheers guys, my Nids looked paltry compared to the dozens of really amazingly painted armies there but they served me well.

The event has finished now and I'll write a report ASAP but overall I didn't win any awards (sad face) but had a great time and was even recognised from this blog! So amazed at that but everyone there was great to talk to and enjoyable to play.

@ SinSynn: yeah, they are stupid.... Whole army into them and they still survive?!?!
