About Xenos and Proud

This is a small blog about my Warhammer 40,000 hobby. I will try to concentrate on the tactics behind the general game and my Xenos armies but there will be the odd post about random stuff.

About Me

Xenos and Proud is an 18 year old from Scotland who has been playing 40K for the last 4 years. He loves the 'under-dog' xenos armies, namely his Tyranid Gorgon splinter fleet, his Saim-Hann windrider host, his Tau Vleastean Hunter-cadre and the newest addition, the Shadowfax Corsairs. Although his tactics are mostly 'borrowed', his painting skills still 'developing' and his luck becoming evermore 'ridiculous' he continues to play, paint and roll in the hope that one day things will get better.

Tau 'Missile Mania'

I have always liked Tau. They were my first army but I couldn't play them well so scrapped them for Eldar. Now recently over the last few months I have started getting back into them since my other two armies (Nids and Eldar) are all bought and in full swing.

I have considered a Mech army but already have Saim-Hann Eldar so don't want full mech but still need some mobility. So here's two 1500 point lists. The first is crazy and the second not so much.

  1. I like the first list. Although I'd trade one of the Hammerheads for a unit of broadsides. With that many missile flying around, you're going to wreck rhinos, razorboacks, chimeras, wave serpents like nobody's business!

  2. I don't face any mech actually, It is usually gunboats I face like guard leman russes and marine predators and vindicators. So the missiles are mainly for awesome fluff reasons. Think of how that would look!

I included the hammerheads so the crisis suits have something to run around and for the large blast. But I see how broadsides would be better at killing high armor more reliably with more hits.

However I still want the list to work as a mobile firebase so I could replace the hammerheads (saving 350 points) and get 2 x 2 broadsides with advanced stabilization systems and drones, shas'vre, target lock and such. They could keep up a little with the suits while providing twice as many railguns all at different targets. However they can't sub blast and are slower and with no hammerheads all those anit-tank guns face the transports or suits.

    I'll think about it.

Either way I realised I can use two identical firebases. Not bad.

P.S. Sorry for crazy spacing. I won't copy from excel now. Too many problems.
