About Xenos and Proud

This is a small blog about my Warhammer 40,000 hobby. I will try to concentrate on the tactics behind the general game and my Xenos armies but there will be the odd post about random stuff.

About Me

Aberdeen, United Kingdom
Xenos and Proud is an 18 year old from Scotland who has been playing 40K for the last 4 years. He loves the 'under-dog' xenos armies, namely his Tyranid Gorgon splinter fleet, his Saim-Hann windrider host, his Tau Vleastean Hunter-cadre and the newest addition, the Shadowfax Corsairs. Although his tactics are mostly 'borrowed', his painting skills still 'developing' and his luck becoming evermore 'ridiculous' he continues to play, paint and roll in the hope that one day things will get better.

Another Finished Tau Army List

Ok so here's what I think is my best army list and what I will get. It has blockers, tank suppressors, reliable tank killing, semi-mobility, semi-durability, anti-MeQ, anti-horde, pinning and markerlights.

Old but funny.....

This army will follow the basics of Tau tactics of sit back, shoot, hide behind your suicide squads (drones) and move away along the flanks while your stationary elements sit and take the charge eventually as they go out in flames.

All of the units are generally hard to kill as the sniper teams are stealthed, the broadsides have 2+ saves and drones, the suits are mobile enough to hide and some have drones and the FW will hide in reserve. Some or all of the gun drones can also be put in reserve and deepstrike right in the opponents way before running and jetpack moving to become a quickly deployed wall.

So what do you think? Worth spending the £210?

  1. Although I think you've done well to get a full 1500 army for £210 (by staying away from expensive broadside and vehicles), I am bit concerned when I look at how competitive I think the list will be. The big things that concerns for me are:
Shas'vre used before crisis suits are maxed out
Small units of firewarriors on foot
Gun drones (particularly in the role you want to use then in)
    Sniper teams
Not all heavy support slots filled (heavy support along with crisis suits are where we get our best firepower from)

The list isn't bad but I'd say it could be improved, even with the restriction of trying to not pay too much for the army as a whole.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't do a full reply. I'll reply later, or I could do a post on my blog linking to your article here if you'd like.
