About Xenos and Proud

This is a small blog about my Warhammer 40,000 hobby. I will try to concentrate on the tactics behind the general game and my Xenos armies but there will be the odd post about random stuff.

About Me

Xenos and Proud is an 18 year old from Scotland who has been playing 40K for the last 4 years. He loves the 'under-dog' xenos armies, namely his Tyranid Gorgon splinter fleet, his Saim-Hann windrider host, his Tau Vleastean Hunter-cadre and the newest addition, the Shadowfax Corsairs. Although his tactics are mostly 'borrowed', his painting skills still 'developing' and his luck becoming evermore 'ridiculous' he continues to play, paint and roll in the hope that one day things will get better.

'Finalising' my Tyranid Army List

After almost a year of having the new codex I think I have finally decided upon my 'standard' Tyranid Army List. I will go over the tactics I commonly use in depth over the next few weeks as this army really needs a lot of explaining if you are to fully understand it, let alone get it to work.

TOTAL = 1500

Generally the army sticks together around the Venomthropes and forms a core with the Gaunts becoming death machines via Tervigon and Venomthrope buffs. The Shrikes act as a counter assault unit and the Zoanthropes are tank-killers. The Genestealers make people fear the board edges as my core army stomps up the centre. They also act as tank killers which is why they have Adrenal Glands.

Fairly simple but my friends think it is un-killable although recently I have been encountering some firm resistance. The Hive Mind may need to adjust its tactics.....

  1. Interesting...
    Personally I would shunt one of the Termagant broods over to be Gargoyles and free up a Troop slot for one of the Tervigions. Scoring Monsters for the Win!

    Personally I do not think Adrenal Glands are worthwhile on Genestealers compared to having an extra body. If you want them for tank hunting take a Broodlord and preferably give them Toxic Sacs.

  2. Exactly what Lyracian said T6 W6 troops slot for the win! It's a good feeling to settle on a list core you're comfortable with though. My core is 2 tervs, 2x10 'gants, 6 HG. Everything else is pretty fluid. =)
