New Forum - Eldar Resplendent

Thanks to my friend, a new forum has come to my attention, one that started recently but I've been wanting for years, ever since I started Eldar. Yup, it's an Eldar forum!

The Eldar Resplendent forum is still young (ironically) but thanks to the new codex I think it has a huge potential to help all the newbies who are converting to our web-ways *haha*. I hope to be quite active on this forum and sharing my 'wisdom', though will surely be getting a lot of ideas from it too.

I encourage all Eldar players, new and old to try this forum and look around.

Starting Corsairs

Seeing as I am utterly in love with the arrogant Corsair imagery and I 'need' a new Warhammer project I've decided to start up a Corsair force. For this army I am going to focus a lot on the modelling and painting, trying to improve my skills and also choosing units because I like them rather than 'OMG IT KICK BUTT' because as a Forgeworld army not many people will let me use it anyway; its mainly for the looks and fluff.

The Eldar must have started somewhere....

Luckily this idea of 'improving my skills' fulfills the requirements of my Duke of Edinburgh skill section (which for those non-brits is a national award thingy - google it, it's awesome fun) so I will need to keep track of my progress weekly. That's right, it means I'm going to have to update this blog frequently with awesome pictures of my Corsairs; ain't you lot lucky.

So first things first, the army list. This is 1500 points but I also have a 1000 and 600 so I can collect in stages because those Forgewolrd kits will put a dent in my pocket money funds. Here's a rundown of all the units, their equipment and roles.

HQ
Corsair Prince - Autarch equivalent 
Power Weapon - standard stuff
Shimmershield - 5+ inv for him and his unit in cc 
Melta Bombs - standard stuff 

- For assaulting troops on objectives and such

3 Bladesworn - Prince's retinue
3 Power Weapons - standard stuff 
Melta Bombs -  standard stuff 
- Protects the Prince and contribute 12 attacks on the charge.... oh yeah

Venom - Dedicated transport, oh yeah
Scatter Laser -  standard stuff
- To serve and protect

Void Dreamer - Farseer equivalent but without Runes or anything cool
Witchblade - but he does have this,
Grynx - a small magical rodent to reroll one D6 every game
Webway Portal - and he also has this, win

- A swiss army knife with the deployment bubble

Troops
10 Corsairs - Guardians basically but with BS4!
Jetpack - Love these
2 Eldar Missle Launchers - Relentless EML's....
2 Flamers - Just because I'll have them doesn't mean I'll use them
Felarch - The exarch equivalent

- To camp on objectives really

5 Corsairs - Same as above
Shuriken Cannon - standard stuff 
Fusion Gun -  standard stuff 
Felarch - Same as above but..
Power Weapon - with one of these
Haywire Grenades - and some of this!
- More swiss army knives with something deadly for anything unfriendly

Venom -  standard stuff 
Scatter Laser -  standard stuff 
- Really darn good at protecting those 5+ save Corsairs 

*Above Corsair squad is duplicated for double awesomeness

2 Wasps - Basically normal War Walkers except BS4 and with Jetpacks
4 Scatter Lasers - For the massive hordes at BS4

- Just like regular Walkers, but better!

3 Corsair Jetbikes - same as regular Guardian Jetbikes but with BS4, scouts and 2 attacks base
Shuriken Cannon -  standard stuff  
Felarch - Same as above except
Fusion Pistol - with a BS4 melta pistol
Power Weapon - and 3 attacks base with WS4!

*Above Jetbike squad is duplicated so I can outflank reliably with at least one

Fast Attack
2 Hornets -  Basically better Vypers, twice the guns, more speed, scouts, AV11
4 Pulse Lasers - For things that don't die

- This unit is for anything that MUST DIE NOW

Total = 1499

So overall it is a fast list where everything can either outflank, deepstrike or come from the webway. I really like the idea, just need to buy and build it.

P.S. If anyone can think of a banner icon for Corsairs I'd love to hear about it as I cannot think of a design for their flags and banners.

Jolly Toys Outing 2012 Tournament

I am delighted to announce that on the 18th and 19th of February I will be gleefully playing at the Jolly Toys Outing's first ever tournament in Warhammer World Nottingham! This event looks set to be a great time and being styled around Nova it will be a good change of pace to my usual gaming. The games are all 200 points with some different missions from the core rulebook but with some practice they seem to be really thought-provoking and will sure to give some interesting play.

Schools League Results.

The battles have been fought and the Hive ships are coming in to absorb the bio-mass. Schools League is over and I couldn't be more happy.

My team lost horrifically in the final round, I had my only non-win of the whole tournament, but despite placing 8th we all had a brilliant time. I lost to a very good and nice Ork player with 2 battlewagons but the fight was close and a fun challenge, despite my loss.

The League overall was a very rewarding experience and we are all eager to register for the next one. Next time I will get my perfect 9/9 wins..... next time....

Live from Warhammer World....

Hello everyone,

It is the final of the Schools League and my friends and I are having an epic time in this brilliant place.

Anyway, we have played two games so far with one more after lunch yet to come so here is a quick update with what has happened.

We are currently 6th in the rankings! I have won all my games but my team has sadly not. We are still in the running for winners but it will require the whole team to win...

Also, as the only Scottish team we arrived dressed in battle uniform. Kilts! Many people have been taken aback but it is an amazing place and really fun, a great time to remember.

I highly suggest people visit Warhammer World at least once as it is really cool and enjoyable. I'll post the results as soon I as get them.

Schools League T-Shirts and Update

Hey everyone,

I Have just received confirmation that the National Finals of Schools League is happening on the 29th of June! We have also all been given our official Schools League T-shirts which we must wear which are awesome as you can see. I have been working hard on my list too and have decided upon my Tyranid list with 2 Tervigons, 11 Devilgaunts and 2 Hive Guard. This my friends believe is unbeatable but we will see I hope.....

Schools League Regional Heat Results!

So I have now been to Warhammer World Nottingham and the Schools League National Finals! It was absolutely amazing and I loved everything about the place. The place was like a university campus with many separate buildings with connecting paths/walkways and there was a balcony and even a small garden!

Army ready for combat.

So a quick run-down: we arrived around 09:00 and got prepared, our armies out, our army lists checked and finally familiar with the amazing surroundings before we started at around 11:00. Round 1 was a Dawn of War, Capture and Control against a horde Ork player. His list was 2x30 orks with a power klaw, a warboss with a power klaw and 5 lootas. I basically split his two big units up and munched both by turn 2 with the combined firepower and close combat prowess of the many gaunts. A win for me.

Round 2 was against a Tyranid player I knew from The Tyranid Hive, Alta, who had a Tyrannofex w/ cannon, 10 gaunts and a prime with warriors in a pod. We started this game late due to a mix up so we had to rush but it was fun anyhow. It was a seize ground, spearhead battle and since I got first turn and 2/3 objectives I just sat back, pumped out gaunts and won the game by not moving. A win for me.

All my friends were laughing at me due to the fact that I recognised Alta from TTH and were saying 'remember what we were told in school, don't meet people on the internet.' It was funny and Alta was a great guy and it will be a hilarious story for my next 'internet safety' lesson at school.

Round 3 was a Pitched battle, killpoints game against a Tau player who had a Hammerhead, 6 fire warriors in devilfish, 20 kroot and 2 crisis suits with missile pods. This game went really slowly, I suspect my opponent was doing this deliberately, but by turn 5 I had just killed the crisis suits for 1 killpoint and had only lost 2 gaunts. A win for me again!

So overall a great day, I won all my games and we got through to the International Finals with joint 2nd! Bring it on!

Schools League National Heats!

My teacher got an e-mail on Monday saying that my friends and I are through to the next round of Schools League! Yay!

It is held in Warhammer World in Nottingham on the 4th of April but we have no idea how we are going to get there and such. Oh well, the 4th is a Monday so wee'll miss school to play Warhammer! How awesome is that!

So, now it is time to celebrate and devise new army lists. 

YAY!!!!!

Schools League Results!

So I'm knackered from the 2 hour car journey and the continuous moving of 60+ Gaunts but the Schools League  Regional Finals are finished! Here's how it went:

Aberdeen GW is amazing. We got there at 9:00 as the shop opened and were al in awe as we went into a huge shop with a dozen gaming tables, swords on the walls and a second floor. We went upstairs to the playing area which had about 8 tables (6x4) but bags of moving room and the walls were decked with Blood Angel banners and cool 8' hard-posters of Space Marines (of course). Awesome.

We had arrived about an hour before the other group and one of their people was another half hour late so we didn't begin until 11:00. This was because all the other team were about 10 years old and had to write their army lists when they arrived. Not a great start.

It didn't get much better as my first game was spent teaching a Tau player how to play past the basic rules of move, shoot, get assaulted. He didn't even know his suits had an extra move in the assault phase. I did my best to have a fun game and help him but I won easily.

Next game against an Ultramarines (Smurf) marines player who had an army which later clocked in at 805 points in the car home (we checked the armies points and they were all over). It was a 600 points tournament and he also had several other illegal mistakes which included Bikers all with 6 attacks base and the non-sergeant with a 4 attack base powerfist. WTF! Anyway I won easily as he had no idea what the hell he was doing.

Last game was after lunch which we had to complete a quiz which was easily done when allowed access to our rulebooks (which the opponents didn't have). Only a 25 minute break but enough to discuss how bogus our opposition was. My friends games had all gone well apart from Ko'vash who had real bad luck against illegal army lists.

Final game was against a little ******* of a Blood Angels player with Gabriel Seth with Honour Guard all with Feel No Pain and 3 combat squads. He bragged how Seth was going to 'Powwnnn your all armyzzzz!' and was a general douche. It didn't help cool his ego when he passed every save for his death unit making 3+ and 4+ FnP counter over (no joke I counted) 50 wounds! 15 of which were AP3 from my Zoanthropes because he had grouped up for no reason! His luck eventually died when I charged with 44 Gaunts and killed 3 guys with 50 attacks, hitting on 4+s, wounding on 4+ reroll. That combat was started turn 5 and the game ended turn 5 so he continued to brag how Seth would have killed them all and the Tervigon behind them by the beginning of turn 6. I won as I had killed a bunched up combat squad with 2 Warp Blast hits.

So an overall

for me. 3/0!

Even better my team had done really well and we all won our third games (and my friend got Best Painted) so ended up with 7 Wins/ 2 Draws/ 2 Loses. We ended up scoring 50 points without counting the quiz points. We never go told the results but we calculated them and the max without the quiz was 60 so I really hope we get to the National Finals!

Schools League Postponed!

I had all my units packaged neatly; all the rulebooks stowed; my army lists cleanly written; all the models freshly painted; my packed lunch packed and my hopes set high.

Then Schools League gets postponed two days before the event. 

I am not happy........

...... It has been postponed two weeks until the 29th. 

My rage lessens with laughter......

However I did get four games with my friends instead so I will get some pictures and reports up when I cool down. I learned a lot of things in those games so I will share my new knowledge later. 

Christmas Goodbye

It has finally happened. Christmas is almost here. And along with it all the boring, repetitive family greetings and stuff like that. Social interaction at its worst.

Anyway it means I am going to be rather busy over the next week or so but I will be back.

Snow Day!

Hey everyone,

Today out of nowhere, here in Scotland, it has suddenly snowed about 12" in two days and it is still snowing hard. That means no school! But I wasn't going to school anyway, I was meant to be going to work experience which I was really going to enjoy but now I'm stuck here with the threat of a power cut. Not so fun.

But I must make the most of this and catch up on my xboxing and painting. Hopefully the internet won't go down.

My dogs are having just as much fun.

Anyone else having some fun in the early snow?

New Blog Layout

So as you have probably noticed my blog has changed a bit. I found the white text on dark blue hard on the eyes.

There are still a few tweaks I need to fix, like the title being fuzzy but that will happen in due time.

Eldar Fault-Finding

Hey everybody, this is the 50th post! Unbelievable.

Here are some stats:

Anyway, after much thinking, muling over, the 2 games on Monday and 2 games against myself I have found a few faults in my current Eldar list. First the faults then the possible solutions.

Time to knuckle down and snore.....

These next few weeks are going to be really quiet for my blog. Sorry but I have some prelim exams on at school for the next three weeks so the posts will be few and far-between but hopefully I can keep up with my weekly posts at least but don't keep your hopes up.

It is annoying how it is so soon after the holidays but 'you know what' happens. 

So in conclusion I leave you with this; hopefully I won't fail this badly.

I'm back!

I got back two days ago actually but my computer got itself a virus. Don't trust something called Smart Defragmenter! It is a virus!

School League!

So, exciting news everyone! My school club is going to the School League! There will be many other schools competing, lots of people and will be hopefully lots of fun. The rules are quite odd and restricting and I was rally disappointed that it was 600 points and not 2000 or so.

Here's the rules:

- 600 Points
- Compulsory 1 HQ and 2 Troops but you can have more
- Only 1 Elites slot
- EITHER 1 Fast Attack or 1 Heavy Support

Upcoming Friendly Competition.

Just a quick post from my iPod to let you know about an upcoming competition between my friends. I will do at least one battle report on the three games in total that will be played.
